Veronica and I visited the SmartWater offices and laboratory on the Telford Technology Park. We were greeted by Gary Higgins and Rachael Oakley, and were shown round together with Tom Harding, Superintendent of Police for Telford & Wrekin. SmartWater is an inorganic traceable liquid that contains a unique forensic signature, and this allows the police to identify the real ownership of any stolen goods marked with the liquid (see https://www.smartwater.com/security/ for further details). It is clear that SmartWater has made a significant reduction in the level of theft in those areas where it has been deployed. The police in Shropshire are facilitating the roll-out of the liquid across the county, and I would recommend everyone to adopt it.
