At the invitation of David Evans, Councillor for Cravens Arms, and David Mills, Chairman of Craven Arms Town Council, Veronica and I made a visit to Craven Arms. We met at the Discovery Centre, where we were joined by Cecilia Motley, the Rural Issues Champion on Shropshire Council. We were very impressed by the Discovery Centre, and particularly liked the stunning film of Shropshire beauty spots. We then visited Millmead, a block of small flats for retired people on modest incomes, managed by South Shropshire Housing Association and offering a happy and welcoming environment. Lastly David Mills gave us a guided tour of his broiler chicken business, and a fascinating summary of the challenges involved in running the business.
