At the invitation of the High Sheriff of Worcestershire, Mr Stephen Betts, Veronica and I attended the Declaration of the new High Sheriff, Mr Cassian Roberts, in the Shirehall in Worcester. The Reverend Timothy Wright OSB, ex Abbot of Ampleforth, was appointed as the High Sheriff’s Chaplain. Stephen Betts gave an excellent summary of his year in office with the focus on the wide variety of different events that he had attended. The Hon Mr Justice Jeremy Baker made a thoughtful speech about the importance of the role of the High Sheriff within the county. Following the Declaration we enjoyed an excellent reception in the Shirehall.
