Oswestry cards for good causes

Monday 27th November 2017

At the invitation of Christine Abram, Veronica and I visited St Oswald’s Church in Oswestry to view the sale of charity Christmas cards, which takes places each year in the church. There are over 25 volunteers who give their time to keep the shop open every day, and we met three of them, namely Irene Gull, who established the annual sale of charity cards in Oswestry, the Reverend Prebendary David North (the High Sheriff’s Chaplain) and Muriel Jones. The shop is part of the “Cards for Good Causes” organisation, supporting over 30 charities, including The Children’s Society, Doctor Barnardo’s, Macmillan Nurses, British Heart Foundation, Cancer Research, SSAFA and RNLI. The sales effort is extremely well organised and I would urge all of those who have not yet bought Christmas cards to pay them a visit.
